The best decaf availableI can't live without this tea. That is all. I will never ever reach for anything other than Barry's decaf or Barry's gold blend. After about a half dozen times ordering this tea through Amazon prime and getting crushed tea boxes, I finally gave up and started ordering only from Barry's Amazon marketplace store which ships directly from Ireland. The shipping is only a little slower and very much worth it to me to have someone pack my items with the care and respect they deserve.5The best decaf I've hadI love tea, hot or iced, its been something I grew up drinking and is my favorite beverage. I also like my tea STRONG but I don't drink coffee or soda often so my caffeine tolerance is pretty low. I wanted a decaf tea option so I could have some whenever I wanted without worrying about it hindering my sleep schedule or making me jittery. I've only made iced tea with these so far and i let it steep for hours. Yes it does get bitter as any tea would when you let it steep that long, but that's how I like it. Very strong and normal black tea flavor that I could never get out of lipton decaf teabags.5Buy Barry's not that other animal named teaNot only is this the tea the best tasting, but Barry's as a company seems very respectable. Firstly, I must say that I love the fact they also sell a decaf version of their gold version and the they taste the same. Do you understand that? You are not missing out on the flavor at all with this decaf version. Secondly, and this is also an important fact is that Barry's, even though I live in CA, shipped my tea with obvious great care but also swiftly. I had my three boxes of tea within a week of my order and that's factoring in it's time through customs. Thirdly, I am a third generation Irish American, and even though I don't live in Ireland, I'm happy to support a family owned Irish company. Good on you Barry's, good on you.5Very low caffeine content. Robust flavor!Decaf tea still has some caffeine in it and the amount varies by brand. In the several boxes I ve had the content has been very low as my IBS roommate who is very sensitive to caffeine has been able to drink with no problems! This is the ONLY black decaf tea that has not given her stomach problems. The flavor is robust and works well black or with cream. I wouldn t dare compare it to loose leaf high quality tea. Barry s is Irish tea. As such it doesn t have the green quality that loose leaf teas will, but that doesn t mean it s bad. This tea is good to have with a meal or with tea crackers. It s a tea that even a picky coffee drinker might enjoy due to its robust flavor!5The best for my tasteOk I've been bashing the other Irish breakfast teas, not because they are bad products but the flavor profile I look for in an Irish tea is this one. I don't know maybe I had it as a kid and my ancestral memory guides me to liking this tea the best. Whatever the reason, this tea is strong with a wonderful astringency that makes it a pleasure to wake up to in the morning. Day after day it always satisfies. It will stand up to milk if you wish, but is perfect plain. Buy some now, good on ya.5Best Decaffeinated Tea EverI am a tea lover, specifically loose leaf tea. I have over 100 teas in my collection and I wrote a tea blog for over a year. I've never been a drinker of decaffeinated tea because I always found them to taste flat (at best) or stale. I'm not lumping herbals in with my classification of decaffeinated teas, because herbals aren't really tea. I have recently had a new onset of atrial fibrillation which has made my system intolerant of caffeine. I went from a years-long habit of high daily tea consumption to none. (The Lord gives. The Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.) So I began a search for a drinkable decaffeinated tea. My search confirmed my earlier opinion of decaf tea -- flat and stale. Even custom blends from established tea shops. Yuck! Was I consigned to a lifetime of drinking herbals? (There are some very good herbals, but they're just not tea.) Browsing on Amazon, I did a search for decaf teas and found a lot of good reviews for Barry's Decaffeinated Tea. It was less than ten bucks, so I gave it a chance. I'm glad I did. This is the finest grocery store type "tea bag" tea I've ever had. If it didn't say it on the box, I would never had guessed it to be a decaf. It's rich and smooth with only a hint of astringency. I drink mine with a little bit of raw honey, but for those who are so inclined, I'm sure that it would go well with a splash of milk or a squeeze of lemon. My only complaint is with the packaging. The paper tea bags are unwrapped in a lightweight cardboard box. You'll need to transfer the bags to an opaque, air-tight container to retain their freshness. I still miss my daily excursions into the regions of Assam, Darjeeling, and Yunnan, but Barry's Decaffeinated Tea is a lifeline to a dedicated tea drinker who can no longer tolerate caffeine. Highly recommended.5My New Favorite TeaUp till now my favorite tea was Lipton. Went to an Irish restaurant ordered tea. Wow what a difference. Had to ask who made it. So now my new favorite was Barry's Breakfast. I drink coffee in the morning, sometime tea in the afternoon, and decaf tea at night. It's really hard to find decaf tea that hold's it's flavor. While waiting for this to arrive from Ireland (bought it on Amazon) I picked up a 20 box of Twilings decaf. That was definatly better than the decaf I was drinking. Today the Barry's arrived. I am IMPRESSED. I'm writing this drinking my 1st cup (and its a 22 ounce mug) It's everything I was hoping for. I drink a lot of decaf tea at night so I don't eat. This one's a keeper. Also considering it came all the way from Ireland the price was good to. If I can't find it local I will be reordering. Will also be trying the Breakfast once my Lipton's runs out.Went ahead and ordered the Irish Breakfast. I am so pleased. I use a 22 ounce mug the tea is strong and pleasing. If I drink it early instead of coffee I don't toss the bag. Make a 2nd mug with new bag. 3rd using the 2 saved bags. The 3rd tastes just as good. This is through out the day. Most days I still start out with coffee and only 1 or 2 tea with caffeen, At night I am drinking the Barry's decaf.5Barry's Classic Blend - Very Good Black TeaI have tried both Barry's Classic blend and Barry's Gold blend over the past few months. Both are quite good, but I must say the Classic blend is my preference of the two and has earned a place in my rotation. I find Barry's Classic a bit bolder than their Gold blend; both are very aromatic and well balanced. The black tea fan can't go wrong with either one.I hear there's a debate among Irish tea lovers about whether Barry's or Lyon's is the better black tea. (I'm an American with a very prominent measure of Irish DNA. I, too, love a good debate.) Lyon's Original blend--a wonderful, malty blend--is among my very favorite black teas and is often the tea I choose for my first cup in the morning. All that aside, considering quality, consistency, and price point, the debate is moot for any number of reasons...both Barry's and Lyon's are blending very fine black tea.5If you like a strong black tea...I was introduced to this tea by a dear friend several years ago. I can't tolerate caffeine and love strong black tea. I had tried many brands but found I had to use two bags for each cup to get an acceptable flavor. When I tried this, I was immediately hooked and buy the 80 count box quite often. I don't get palpitations or heartburn with this tea but do get a wonderful rich flavor. If you like a strong cuppa you're sure to like this. Also, the individual bags are bigger than any others I've tried. One bag/per cup is plenty. Well worth the price to me!5Disappointing FlavorAs an avid Decaf tea drinker (Decaf due to migraines) I am always looking for a really good Decaf Black Tea and have literally tried dozens of them. After reading the reviews here about Barry's Decaf, I ordered a box of 80 tea bags. The tea arrived promptly (shipped from Ireland and got here a lot sooner than estimated) and the shipping carton was decorated with colorful teapot drawings. I followed the instructions to the letter, but after making cups of this tea with both tap water and bottled water about a half-dozen tries, the flavor just wasn't satisfying or strong enough for me, even when I tried brewing one bag a minute or two longer than the instructions specified. I even tried brewing two bags at once but the result from that was undrinkable. Guess I'll keep looking. . .Sorry, Barry's.2
