2011/12 Crop micro-lot. Certified Organic by Ceres, GmbH (an USDA agent). Martin was born in 1970 and is married to Isidora Quispe. They have three children: Grover, Loida, and Fani. Both Martin and Isidora migrated to the Caranavi coffee growing region from Ancoraimes, Omasuyos Province (Altiplano Region), the Bolivian High Plateau near lake Titicaca. Martin is the past president of the Proagro Cooperative, and now the leading force on this new group, Siete Estrellas (APEASE), which translates to Seven Stars. Martin's farm is located in Chijchipani County, Caranavi Province and encompasses 10 hectares (about 25 acres), of which four are dedicated exclusively to coffee production. He grows only the Typica variety. His farm is located at 5,300 feet above sea level. For the past ten years Martin has worked very hard to improve the quality of his coffee. This year's crop and cupping score bear withness to his hard work. He never participaded in the Cup of Excellence competion on his own name, but several times through Proagro Cooperative submisions. We love Martin's coffee and we have signed a multi-year contract with him at increasing fixed prices, based on coffee quality as measured by the cupping score. Enjoy! Our Head Cupper gave this coffee a score of 89, with cupping notes as follows: Aroma/flavor: Sweet caramel, maracuya (passion fruit), apple, orange, chocolate, very aromatic, brown sugar, floral. Acidity: Grapefruit, brilliant & complex. Other: Creamy, buttery, good body, smooth, well balanced, very clean.
